Some projects only come along once in a century. During my time working at Pípar in Iceland, we were presented with an opportunity to design the identity for the centenary celebration of Iceland’s independence from Denmark in 1918.

Drawing inspiration from the flag, the sea, and Viking knotwork, I proposed an identity that combined Iceland’s national colours with an infinity symbol - reflecting both its ancient, volcanic history, and its modern, pioneering outlook.
